During a virtual media event held from California on Tuesday, Apple unveiled four new iPhones, a new Apple Watch, and new iPads. The new smartphones, which include the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, do not include any revolutionary design changes or features, at least when compared to last year’s 5G announcement.
Rather, Apple’s event signalled a return to basics, with enhancements such as stronger cameras, longer-lasting batteries, and speedier processing on the company’s products. Nonetheless, there were some welcome new features, such as a jaw-dropping storage option for the Pro models and a new Portrait mode for shooting videos.
The higher-end iPhone Proline, at least among iPhones, was arguably the highlight of Apple’s event. Apple’s new, powerful A15 Bionic chip powers the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max, which Apple claims is the “fastest CPU in any smartphone. It will improve the iPhone’s machine learning capabilities, including real-time video analysis. The Pro devices include a five-core CPU with 50 per cent faster graphics – an upgrade that many gamers will appreciate along with a bright Super Retna XDR display with a faster refresh rate, all-day battery life. The option for one terabyte of storage, which doubles the previous maximum storage capacity.
The camera system received a significant upgrade as well. It comes with a 77mm telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom is included in the triple-camera setup. An ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/1.8 aperture and macro capabilities, Dolby Vision HDR video recording with an f/1.5 wide-angle lens and the largest sensor ever. Slow-motion video mode for macros and Cinematic recording with 4K video at 30 frames per second in ProRes format.
It includes a new 77 mm telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom as well as new wide and ultrawide cameras. The Pro and Pro Max have starting prices of $999 and $1,099, respectively. (A one-terabyte storage iPhone Pro Max costs $1,599.)
The phones are available in graphite, gold, silver, and sierra blue colours. On Friday, September 2nd, the entire new iPhone line will begin shipping.

The 6.1-inch iPhone 13 and 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini are powered by the same A15 Bionic chip as the Pro models. It also has a dual-camera system with diagonally arranged lenses and longer-lasting batteries.
The iPhone 13 will last 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 mini will last 1.5 hours longer on a single charge, according to Apple. A more efficient display, a new 5G chip, and a tool called Cinematic Mode, which is similar to the popular Portrait mode feature but for videos, are among the other updates.
